How We Serve Muslim Students at Stanford
We support students during their most critical college years through chaplaincy and spiritual development, helping them find their spiritual purpose and develop lifelong skills. Through consistent Islamic education programming, we create a big tent community that welcomes diversity of thought and experience while creating spaces for anyone who wishes to follow in the prophetic footsteps.
We provide consistent Islamic education that helps students deepen their knowledge and spiritual growth, grounding them in authentic scholarship while making space for questions and exploration.
Our dedicated chaplaincy offers spiritual counseling and support for students navigating faith, doubt, and relationships for the first time as independent adults—meeting each student where they are with wisdom and compassion.
Through interactive workshops, we help students design lives aligned with Islamic values and discover their spiritual purpose, equipping them with tools to integrate faith into every aspect of their journey.
We facilitate service projects that embody Islamic values while engaging the broader Stanford community, creating bridges that strengthen both individual faith and collective impact. By building intentional relationships between students, alumni, and community members, we ensure that the bonds formed here endure far beyond graduation.
Inspired by the Ansar (“Helpers”) of Madinah—who welcomed, served, and gave selflessly to others—this program connects students with the broader Bay Area community. We provide homemade lunches and airport rides for students, serve meals to unhoused neighbors and partner with the local children's hospital to support patients and their families.
Throughout the year, we organize meaningful gatherings that foster connection and belonging among current students, alumni, and the broader community. We host a Gratitude Night each Thanksgiving and a New Year Gathering for students spending the holiday away from home. We also engage in interfaith dialogue in order to build bridges with our neighbors of other faiths—bringing all together in joy and shared purpose.
We are building an independent endowment to ensure a perpetual Muslim presence at Stanford, securing the financial foundation that allows us to serve students regardless of changing administrations or institutional priorities. Through strategic institutional relationships and capital planning, we work to secure and maintain the physical spaces and resources that Muslim students need to thrive spiritually and communally.
We are establishing a permanent financial foundation that ensures Muslim students will have consistent chaplaincy, programming, and spaces for generations to come, building an institution that outlasts any single administration or budget cycle.
As an independent voice, we advocate for Muslim student needs including expansion of physical space, enhanced chaplaincy support, and adequate resources, ensuring students are not subject to the bias of the times or budget constraints.
As the external affiliate of the Muslim Student Union at Stanford, we work closely with Stanford's Office of Religious and Spiritual Life, the Markaz, and other campus partners to provide coordinated and comprehensive support for Stanford Muslim Student Life.
Our programs are designed with Muslim Stanford students at the center. Members of the broader community are welcome to participate in open programs and events, with some spaces reserved for students. For more information or to get involved:
